New Metropolitan Water District Water-Wise Policies May 2009

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California at www.mwdH2O.com has Moved to Drought Level 2. This translates to approximately an 8% reduction in water deliveries to the San Diego region.

If Levels 3 and 4 become necessary, the Districts' consumer demand allowances will be dramatically reduced.

Larger properties in areas such as Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, La Jolla, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Olivenhain, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Carlsbad, and Leucadia are subject to large cutbacks in terms of actual gallons.

How will this affect us?

The regional Water Districts will be meeting to determine possible rate increases and irrigation restrictions. Depending on your Water District you may be required to water on certain days only or be penalized for exceeding a predetermined level of use. These cutbacks can be mitigated with the use of irrigation systems using water efficient devices, including but not limited to: weather based controllers, drip/micro systems, and stream rotor sprinklers.
